5 Year Service Anniversary - Ross Barnes

In September 2019, Dave Seaton and I  joined Glen, after acquiring the  Business. Our aims for the business in the 5 years were

  • To grow the business from £15m, focused on public sector contracts in the Southwest of England and the South East of Wales into a significantly more diverse Group operating nationally with revenues in excess of £25m

  • Glen is an established and respected brand specialising in the delivery of cleaning and support services. Delivering our services through reliability, innovative solutions and quality, building strong sustained partnerships.

  • As experts in cleaning and support services we strive to improve efficiency through best practices, collaborating with our clients to ensure we meet each client’s needs and continually fine tuning our offer to build a sustainable business.

  • Our growth is built through advocacy and a reputation for excellence, value for money and partnerships with clients and our employees while remaining true to our culture.

Today in 2024, I am very proud of what we have achieved.

“Glen Powered by People“ is exactly where I wanted to be, our team at the forefront of our service. Our culture of care and appreciation has  driven down our labour Turnover from 35%, five years ago to 12% in the 8 months up to 2024.

The News@ Glen emails and our App, has improved communication, encourages feedback and participation. While celebrating and rewarding  contribution, through Local Heroes, and supporting our Helping Hands Programme has proven a direct benefit.

The expertise which I hope we show every day, has been strengthened by our policies, procedures, training and audit, all of which we have embedded in the last 5 years.

The acquisition of RCB, provided both sector and geographic expansion which our organic growth failed to do, in the timescale I wished. I do believe that our teams are respected by our Clients and I will work every day to build strong and lasting relationships and contracts.

This is our 4th Year of ISO  Accreditation and  ISO means quality, confidence, trust, safety and many other positive values, which is what is required in a sustainable business.

This year our revenues will be around £25m, with increased costs and lower margins than we first anticipated, five years ago, as we have had to respond to the market.

Much more to do,  but  with our team we have built a company I am very proud of. Thank you for your business.
