There is currently no apprenticeship scheme for the cleaning sector which provides the training in the technical skills needed by cleaning and hygiene operatives working outside healthcare.
As a result, paying the Apprenticeship Levy currently, we have no suitable option for investing Apprenticeship Levy funds on training staff.
Glen has signed up to become involved in a new Level 2 Apprenticeship for Cleaning and Hygiene. The approving body The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) will confirm the final content of the apprenticeship later this year and for us at Glen who will be fully involved, attract younger staff and improve the view from outside the sector that cleaning is a low skilled job.
